What is Modena Capital?

We are a boutique property finance debt arrangement firm based in Sydney, Australia. 

We facilitate investment and construction funding for sophisticated real estate investors and developers. 

The business was established by principal, Lawrence Goldberg, in 2010 to address a market demand created by more restrictive major bank lending policies. 

Through our vast experience and network, we were able to help property investors and developers secure innovative structured finance solutions for  complex project proposals.

Over the past decade, we’ve continued to grow and evolve with market conditions to become a trusted name in the Australian commercial property finance industry.

Managing Director and Founder, Lawrence Goldberg

Lawrence has more than 18 years’ experience in commercial real estate structured finance. He has advised on over $2 billion in transactions across retail, commercial, residential, industrial, hospitality and specialised assets.

Prior to founding Modena Capital, Lawrence held a senior role with Ashe Morgan. Over eight years, he built a foundation of lender relationships and solid skill base in modelling, structuring deals and debt arrangement. During the GFC, he also helped clients navigate through the crisis.

Having enjoyed working with real estate entrepreneurs over many years, and gaining a deep understanding of their challenges and goals, Lawrence set out to provide for a growing need in the real estate financing market.

He launched Modena Capital to deliver sophisticated real estate investors and developers a highly personalised and innovative consultation, funding and partnership facilitation service.

Lawrence personally manages every client project, so he has successfully worked on a range of challenging transactions.

And while he brings all his vast knowledge and experience to every deal, he understands that each is unique, and approaches them that way.

Lawrence holds a Bachelor of Economics (UNSW), Masters of Applied Finance, Fellow of the Financial Services Institute of Australia and has attended a number of Executive Programs at both Harvard Business School and Oxford University.
